What a wonderful experience you've been for me
From the time you came into my life
I cherish all the moments we have shared
Caring for you through your dreams and your strife
When you were little you were filled with joy
Excited about everything everyday
We read books, sang songs and talked a lot
You collected rocks and liked outside to play
At four you tied your shoes for the first time
Thrilled in your accomplishment
Mom, your job is to just watch me
I try to comply with wholeheartedness
Frilly dresses quickly passed
The animals entered our lives
Climbing trees and the tire swing
A two wheel bicycles first try
Taking turns you learned to read
You were good at memorizing lines
The Brownies oath you knew off by heart
And did well in plays although shy
Going to camp and playing with friends
Became important to you
Karate medals and good backstroke times
If too busy sometimes you were blue
Music is treasured by both of us
I'm glad I was able to share
An appreciation for all kinds of songs
From the well known to the rare
Now you are a teenager
With stereos, computers and snowboards
Your individuality is shining through
With hockey, newspapers and mopars
I hope you discover your passions
Try to have patience with yourself
Avoid being judgmental of others
Love life and keep in good health
As your Mom I will always be watching
To help you along life's way
I love you with all of my heart
For ever ever and a day
